History
Mr. Elliot Rein took up a selection of approximately 120 acres of virgin bush land where he built a humble residence and named it Bethshan. “place of rest”. On 1 May 1908. Mr. & Mrs. Rein signed the property to a trust to form Bethshan Holiness Mission.
From the early days of Bethshan Holiness Mission it was open to visitors, Christian workers and those in need who required care and support.
Many swagmen stopped in at the Mission and stayed in a hut specially built to provide shelter for them. They were also provided with meals.
Over the years many people who have needed time out for respite or a temporary home have experienced ministry from Bethshan.
Land was set aside for the development of a Nursing Home.
By the late 1950’s Bethshan had developed a large constituency of people whose lives had been touched by its ministry. Many desired to retire in the Christian environment. thus a plan was developed to build a number of homes for retirees and later followed by the building of the Nursing Home and Hostel. |
